Let’s talk about “photogenic.” The word literally means to produce light — to shine. Not “to fit some random societal definition of hot.” It’s your freaking shine! And I’m here to help you access that on camera.

You know when your friend is laughing so hard, beaming with joy, and you think, “wow, you look so beautiful and free right now”? That’s what I see when someone steps into their light on camera.
If you’ve had a bad headshot experience, or been left to fend for yourself with zero direction, it’s not you, I promise. It’s about comfort, confidence… and specifically, working with the right photographer ;).
I started this business because I love helping people feel good in front of a camera. My sessions aren’t about perfecting poses or smiling on command. They’re about creating a space so warm, safe, and genuinely fun that you forget you were ever self-conscious. And then? I capture that. The real you. The laughing-you. The you that feels good in your skin.
I work with actors, models, entrepreneurs, multi-hyphenates, queer folks, camera-shy folks — basically anyone who’s ever looked at a photo and thought, “that doesn’t look like me.”
Because your photos should. And with me, they will.
here's what I know to be true:
(a timeline)

My dad was a photographer, and gifted me one of his cameras my junior year of high school. Seeing my friends sparkle in front of the camera lit something up within me, and I knew this was the beginning of something wonderful.
I started taking photos of my classmates for $25/session…(know your worth ya’ll). This turned into me becoming the resident photographer for my college shows. I thought, “oh wow, maybe I can do this.”
I had a 5-year-plan. In 5 years, I’d quit all my jobs only making money from photography and acting. I was taking headshots in my apartment, and working as a literal clown on the weekends. You heard me, a CLOWN. (My name was Buttercup.)

2018
2025
Well that happened quickly. I started having to turn down second shooting weddings to keep clowning around, and one day I woke up and said WHAT are you doing?! And sent in my two weeks notice.
Running a business is hard, ya’ll. But it’s been one of the most beautiful journeys of my life, and everyday I’m getting better at it because every one of you who hires me.
I wish my dad could see me now.
Half of photography is direction. I’ve been directing theatre, music videos, and photoshoots for a decade. It’s my superpower.
As a performer and storyteller myself— I have been where you are. I use my degree in Theatre to communicate human emotion and story in every image whether you’re an actor or an entrepreneur.
As a queer, non-binary artist, I know the feeling of blooming defiantly in a world that asks us to be smaller. You’re safe to take up space here.
This is the heart of what I do. Seeing people access confidence in their bodies and stories brings me immense joy. This is my gift to the world.
"If you've ever had a bad experience with a photographer who just didn't GET you, you do not have to worry about that with Mia. Their energy is simultaneously so chill and so supportive and uplifting. They made me feel like myself."
"Mia is the gender affirming fairy godphotographer of your dreams."
